What is Psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy is an exploration into one's life, to gain knowledge and to heal from what is causing emotional and sometimes even physical pain. A skilled psychotherapist is able to take clients into their subconscious mind, where most personal suffering resides. Once we have access to the subconscious mind, we are then able to heal and make lasting changes in our lives.
Psychotherapy at Create Balance
Create Balance's therapists use a number of psychodynamic and mind-body techniques to assist clients in gaining lasting relief from their concerns. A typical session with one of our therapists may begin with conversations about what is concerning you. You would then be guided into deeper parts of your experience. This could include, but is not limited to breathing techniques, body awareness and access to the subconscious mind. This usually leads clients to gain insights into their current situation and release painful emotions. Our therapists work at a deep level with their clients to help them achieve lasting change.
What is Counselling?
Counsellors utilise a variety of techniques and work with interpersonal relationships to enable clients to develop self-understanding and to make changes in their lives. Counselling is usually a shorter process than psychotherapy, as not everyone needs to unravel the past to understand the present. Sometimes we just need a safe space to talk about what is going on in our lives, enabling us to gain perspective and direction.
Counselling at Create Balance
Counsellors at Create Balance use a wide range of counselling modalities, such as acceptance commitment therapy (ACT), solution focused therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), mindfulness based therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR) and more, depending on each client's current needs. Our therapists believe that we all have internal resources but sometimes we are just not aware of them. Through counselling at Create Balance, you will be assisted to identify valuable internal resources and assisted to activate them in your life.
