What does it take to make changes in our lives??
The change process has many layers and can be complex to navigate. Firstly, we need to know what it is that we want to change and this needs to be a clear achievable outcome. Then, we need to look into what our beliefs are regarding the chosen area of change. This part of the process can be the biggest part of the change work and can also be where we get stuck. What are our core beliefs about this area of change?? Do we believe that it’s possible for us to make this change? Do we believe that we are worthy of this change? The next step on the road to change work is understanding our motivations for wanting this change to happen in the first place. This step is similar to the first; it involves honestly reflecting on what our core motivation is for making this change. It takes time and energy to process the underlying emotions and beliefs involved in making lasting change. Now we understand our core beliefs and have brought them up from our subconscious mind to our conscious mind. With any behaviour in life we are trying to change, we are likely to come up against roadblocks. It is when you hit these roadblocks that you check in with your core beliefs, to understand what they are saying and believing about the intended change. Core beliefs have a lot of energy attached to them because they have travelled on this journey through life with us for a long time. Now, just because we have core beliefs, it doesn’t mean we can’t make changes. Knowledge is power and with this knowledge, we can be mindful of our core beliefs while engaging in change work. By being mindful of our core beliefs and understanding them, we now have the opportunity to choose a different path and let the outcomes of the chosen path create new beliefs about what is possible. This writing is intended to give you insights into navigating the underlying process that comes with making significant changes. There are lots of other steps in change work but your emotions, motivations and core beliefs are the things you need to understand at a deep level and the other steps will come naturally as a result of mastering the underlying process.
